Welcome aboard La Mouette Rieuse for a trip across the seven seas with Barbar’O’Rhum‘s pirate-dressed crew! You are about to enjoy an immersive experience combining maritime legends, pirate stories, and adventures inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy. 

Hailing from Toulouse (France),  Barbar’O’Rhum was created by Captain Barbedrut (Les Compagnons du Gras Jambon, Libertalia). Being a huge fan of history, folkpunk and piracy, his goal was to create a band that mixed contemporary and traditional influences and combined elements of Celtic Punk with Pirate Folk Metal.   Drawing inspiration from Sea Shanties, Traditional Folk Music, Celtic Rock, Irish Punk and Folk Metal, Barbar’O’Rhum offers a unique and  innovative  style called “Rock ‘n’ Rum.”

The instrumentation of the group includes Edward Kidd on the bass guitar, Ange Oliver (Natural Mortica) on the keyboards and lead vocals, Roman Ranger on the guitar and lead vocals, Christopher Woody on the drums, Sonja Larouge (Libertalia, Tan Elleil) on the hurdy-gurdy, and Ben La Buse on the guitar in 2018 and Cyrène on the flutes, Gwen on the violin and Luc on the flutes and bagpipes in 2020, bringing 7+ musicians on stage. The first album, called Toutes les Routes Mènent au Rhum, was self-released the 1st July 2016. The second album Journal de B’O’R is a substantial upgrade to the band’s original sound and will be released October 2020 on american label Mannequin Vanity Records.

Averaging 20 to 35 concerts a year since 2015, Barbar’O’Rhum has played more than 130 shows in France, in Germany, in Belgium and in Italy. Notable performances include:

Bio (French) 

Le groupe toulousain Barbar’O’Rhum est créé sous l’impulsion de Mathieu (ex-Les
Compagnons du Gras Jambon, ex-Libertalia) qui avait plusieurs compositions sous la
main avec le but de faire un groupe mélangeant le Punk Celtique et le Folk Metal Pirate.

Boris (ex-Natural Mortica) à la basse, Colin (ex-Natural Mortica) au synthétiseur, Corentin à la guitare et Richard (ex-Libertalia, ex-Brick a Drac) à la batterie rejoignent le projet en avril 2014. Avec ce line-up, le groupe fait ses premières scènes dès le deuxième semestre 2014. Jérémy remplace Boris à la basse en juin 2015. Un premier album, intitulé Toutes les Routes Mènent au Rhum, sort le 1 er juillet 2016. Sonia (ex-Libertalia, ex-Tan Elleil) à la vielle à roue en 2017 et Benjamin à la guitare en 2018 viennent renforcer les rangs pour faire évoluer le line-up à 7 musiciens sur scène. Loïc remplace Richard à la batterie en décembre 2019 et trois nouveaux musiciens trads font leur entrée en 2020 pour ajouter encore plus de variétés mélodiques : Esther aux flûtes, Gwen au violon et Luc aux flûtes et aux cornemuses. Le deuxième album Journal de B’O’R sortira courant octobre 2020 sur le label américain Mannequin Vanity Records.

Avec une moyenne de 20 à 35 concerts par an depuis 2015, Barbar’O’Rhum compte
